Leicester De Montfort Law SchoolLeicester Institute of Legal Practice (LILP), part of Leicester De Montfort Law School, is experienced in providing first-class professional and innovative courses. The Law School has just moved into a brand new £35 million Faculty building, with impressive facilities including an integrated law library. We offer students on our courses a high level of pastoral support and careers advice, including the chance to participate in a Mentoring Scheme. We also provide many opportunities for students to be involved in pro bono work; these include taking part in a Law Clinic, and working with REUNITE and Leicester City Council’s Domestic Violence programme. |

Graduate Opportunities
CPE/Graduate Diploma in Law (full time or part time by distance learning)
A conversion course for non-law graduates wishing to enter the legal profession. The full time (1 year) course is timetabled over 2 days per week so students have 3 teaching free days in the week to use for preparation, attending careers events laid on by LILP and to be involved in pro bono work, and so enhance their CV. On the distance learning course face to face teaching takes place over 9 study weekends over the 2 years.
Legal Practice Course (full time or part time)
From September 2010 LILP (subject to validation) will be running its new LPC. It can be studied full time, with small group sessions being timetabled over 2 days. Full time students can choose to listen to lectures on-line and/or attend face-to-face lectures on a 3rd day. Like the GDL students, this gives LPC students time to be involved in careers events and pro bono work, as well as to prepare for teaching sessions. On the part time course, all face to face teaching (save for 3 days at the beginning of the course) takes place at weekends, making it ideal for those who need to combine study with work and family commitments. Both courses are carefully structured to give students the opportunity to complete practice assessments in every subject (and receive detailed feedback on their performance) before having to submit an actual assessment.
Students who successfully complete the LPC with LILP will (subject to validation) have the opportunity to obtain a Masters in Legal Practice by completing a 20,000 word dissertation. Students can, if they wish, start working towards this while studying Stage 2 of the LPC.
Other postgraduate courses: Leicester De Montfort Law School offers a wide range of other LLM courses. Please contact us for further details.
